Terms of Service

Effective date: 13 September 2026

1. Who we are

Scrappie ("we", "us", "our") is an app that helps you track what's in your fridge, cupboards, and freezer, reduce food waste, and manage your household food inventory. Scrappie is owned and operated by Vanessa Banfield. If you have questions about these Terms, contact whatsinthef@gmail.com.

2. Acceptance of these Terms

By creating an account or using Scrappie in any way, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. We may update these Terms from time to time; if we make material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users (for example, via an in-app notice or email). Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

3. Who can use the app

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide when signing up.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity under your account.

4. Your account

You may need to register for an account to use certain features (such as saving your fridge contents or receiving notifications). You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. You may delete your account at any time; see our Privacy Policy for how we handle your data when you do.

5. Ownership — the app, brand, and content

Scrappie, including its name, logo, design, source code, features, and underlying software, is owned by Vanessa Banfield. Except for the limited licence below, nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership or intellectual property rights in the app to you.

Using the app does not give you any right to copy, modify, reverse-engineer, resell, sublicense, rent, or create derivative works from the app, its code, or its brand, except where the law expressly allows it despite this restriction.

6. Your licence to use the app

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Scrappie for your own personal, non-commercial use. This licence ends automatically if you breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the app.

7. Content you add

You may enter information into the app, such as items in your fridge, quantities, dates, notes, and photos ("Your Content"). You retain ownership of Your Content. By submitting it, you grant us a licence to store, process, and display Your Content back to you as part of providing the app's features, and — only where you have separately agreed to this — to use anonymised or aggregated versions of it to improve the app.

Do not submit content that is unlawful, infringes someone else's rights, or that you don't have the right to share.

8. Acceptable use

  • Use the app for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to access another user's account or data without permission
  • Attempt to copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, or extract the app's source code, design, or underlying data structures
  • Interfere with or disrupt the app's operation, servers, or networks
  • Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access the app without our written permission

9. Service availability

Scrappie is provided on an "as available" basis. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the app at any time, including during early development, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

10. No professional advice / food safety disclaimer

Scrappie is a tracking and organisational tool. It does not verify the actual freshness, safety, or condition of any food you own. You are responsible for making your own judgment about whether food is safe to eat, and for following official food safety guidance. We are not liable for any illness, loss, or harm arising from reliance on dates, reminders, or information within the app.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scrappie and Vanessa Banfield are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, including loss of data, loss of food, or missed reminders. The app is provided free of charge at this stage, on an as-is basis, without warranties of any kind.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the app if you breach these Terms, or if we discontinue the app entirely. You may stop using the app and delete your account at any time.

13. Future changes (monetisation, investment, collaborators)

We may, in the future, introduce paid features, third-party partnerships, or bring on collaborators or investors. If and when that happens, these Terms (and our Privacy Policy) will be updated accordingly, and we will let users know of any material changes.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
